Indian Ship Recycling Evolves Creativity Out of the Ship Breaking & Recycling Process!

The current climate crisis requires that the overall global population become more conscious of their consumption patterns and engage in sustainable waste separation and management practices. A number of organizations have been established in India to assist in the reuse, reduction, and recycling of everyday products. The Indian Ship Recycling Industry is also attempting to move you closer to a more sustainable future. There are many things that people can do at home to help save the environment, and as part of society, Bansal Ship Recyclers has initiated to practice waste management by recycling waste paper and cigarette butts found on ships.

Mr. Rohith Agarwal, the mastermind behind Guideship Consulting Services, is the one who noticed the rampant generation of hazardous waste from ships. Mr. Agarwal being a target-oriented and ambitious person, took it upon his shoulders the responsibility to manage waste diligently while contributing to what's best for society, its people, and Mother Nature. Mr. Rohith set out on a venture to find highly-creative, passionate, and ambitious minds such as his to help him kick-start this wholesome initiative. Treading on this journey, he found some hidden gems which were exuberated to be a part of such a noble practice.

Making the best out of waste is a practice that almost every industry, be it small-scale or large-scale, must follow to do their bit in safeguarding the environment while making an abundant profit. He traced out Purvi Solanki, who is a self-taught artist based in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Purvi began painting and mixed media art in 2009, and she soon became interested in clay textures and murals. Her works have been shown in prestigious art galleries throughout India. She is a multi-talented individual with an active career in the arts. She is a highly creative artist who creates beautiful and artistic structures and artifacts out of paper mache clay.

Rohith collects used paper from ships that are sent for recycling purposes to Mr. Bharat Kapoorchand Bansal, the owner of Bansal Ship Recyclers, and gives it to Purvi for murals. These murals and artifacts are then returned to Mr. Bharat Bansal, who graciously allows Rohith to collect waste paper from ships. This noble initiative not only promotes waste management but also creates job opportunities while encouraging creativity and artwork. The search for people/organizations who can be effective and impactful members of this initiative helped Rohith discover this unusually creative work done by a company, Code Effort. Cigarette butts are ubiquitous, as we all know, but what we don't realize is that they can be used as a resource. Code Effort collects cigarette butts through multiple initiatives and converts them into cotton to make soft toys using cutting-edge technology and experience. The sole purpose of Code Effort's action is to use this omnipresent material for the benefit of the planet. Rohith collects all the cigarette buds left on the ship and sends them over to Code Effort to help produce something that can be put to effective use.

With the goal of accelerating recycling in India, Rohith looks forward to significantly reducing waste and recycling a large portion of what has been produced. This thoughtful and impactful step will encourage industries and people around him to do their part in waste management, promoting art, encouraging handcrafted artifacts, and practicing sustainability while creating abundant job opportunities to ensure a productive, safe, and healthy environment for the future generations.
